I Am Teaching At Skip Cohen University

Hi guys and gals. I am so excited to tell you that I am going to be teaching at Skip Cohen University. First let me tell you a little about SCU. SCU is a photography training event that is unlike any of the traditional offerings in the industry today. SCU brings vendors (that don’t try to sell you anything), world-class instructors, each masters in their niche (Clay Blackmore, Matthew Jordan Smith, Scott Bourne, Rich Harrington, Michele Celentano, Cliff Mautner, Julieanne Kost, Joe Buissink, Bob and Dawn Davis, Kevin Kubota, Eddie Tapp, Bobbi Lane, Tamara Lackey and the list goes on & on) who will teach you some of the secrets that make each one of them so special. SCU is not a huge event where thousands of people are crowded into a massive auditorium. Skip has designed this event to be small in physical size so it becomes a very personal experience. The goal is to get back to the basics, and do it in such a way that the attendees can have a more personal interaction with the instructors and vendors. I cant wait to meet everyone, this is set up to be a very special event.

If you don’t know it, Skip Cohen is the man. He has been deeply embedded in the photographic industry for decades. Skips credits and accomplishments are too vast to cover in this post, lets just stick with, “he is the man” for now. I will say , Skip has put together some photography training events in the past that have become incredible (ever heard of WPPI?). Anyways, along side all of the incredible well-known instructors, Skip is going to do something that is a little different. He is having what he calls a, “UnConference”. During this time set aside, he has opened the floor to some of the unknown but up and coming instructors (like me).

During the UnConference, I am going to get a chance to teach lighting for fifteen minutes to everyone that shows up for Skip Cohen University. This is the first time I have been invited to teach at such prestigious event. I pray that I won’t freeze up and can just be myself. If all goes well, I just might show the people a thing or two about lighting. I can’t tell you how exciting it feels to see my name on the same page as some of the greatest photographers in the world. This is going to be one special day at one incredible event.
