An Automated Solution For Retouching A Large Volume Of Portraits_

Today I want to offer a solution for having to retouch a large volume of portraits. In particular, I am going take a second look at onOne’s automated solution for portrait retouching called Perfect Portrait 2. This software is for anyone who doesn’t like to spend hours and hours retouching portraits. This software if for anyone that needs to speed up the retouching process. This software is for someone who doesn’t know much about retouching and doesn’t have the time or want to go through the effort of learning an entire software package just for retouching. Also this software is for anyone that wants to keep costs down by saving time and money spent on retouching images taken during a large volume portrait session.

Retouching can take lots of time even if you have all the skills and software to do it. The reason why Perfect Portrait 2 is super simple to use is because it’s fully automated. When you launch the software, it will find the face or faces in a group and apply skin softening and blemish removal for you. The software is so smart, it will find the eyes, the lips and teeth. Then automatically apply a baseline fix for you by adding detail to the iris, as well as whitening the eyes and teeth. All you have to do is tweak the sliders to taste. As far as the skin detail, if the software doesn’t automatically fix all of the skin blemishes, you just grab the spot healing brush and paint anything that was missed. Also as a final touch, you can adjust the overall color of the image. You can warm it up, cool it off or fix any sort of color cast. Also you can tweak the skin via smoothing, texture, shine, and unevenness. Using Perfect Portrait is fast and easy.

With all that said, if I was shooting images for a major AD campaign and they had to be 100% prefect, I would painstakingly retouch all the images one at a time inside Photoshop. However for a senior shoot, or family portrait session, sports, and many other events that contain a large volume of images, Perfect Portrait is the tool I will use from now on. You see, I don’t have the time or want to charge the money it takes to retouch each image as if it was the cover of Vogue. Lets face it kids, especially teenagers almost all have skin conditions. Fixing those condition’s in the past has often times been a hellish experience, I am so happy to say, not anymore.

In the video below, I show you the power of Perfect Portrait used mostly as an automated solution. Yes, I do tweak a few sliders to taste as well as remove a few extra blemishes. I could have just opened the image and, “clicked apply” and the image would have been night and day from the original. If you want to spend a little more time to fully understand the software, Perfect Portrait 2 can be used in a much more in-depth way. I have previously reviewed this software in a three-part series, “Automatic Adjustments”, “Selective Adjustments”, and “Fine Tuning”. If after watching the video here and you think you need to know more about the program, please checkout my previous posts about this wonderful time-saving software.

Thanks for taking time to visit today. Sincerely, Thomas Shue
