A WHCC Gallery Wrap and Photo Print Review

Hi and welcome to my blog. Today I am going to share with you some wonderful prints I received from the custom print lab, White House Custom Color (WHCC ). When you work with WHCC you must know that you are working with a real pro lab. In a pro lab, they do not do any sort of file manipulation, at all. They print exactly the file you send them, and this is exactly what I want. I have a vision, I shoot it, I develop it in post, then I send it for print. The last thing I want is some lab making a change to the file.
Most of the labs people work with have a safety net built in their printing workflow, they use software to correct brightness issues. They do it whether you know it or not. If you use WHCC you need to have a handle on your entire workflow from start to print. One of the main problems most people have is prints come back too dark, even of they use a calibration device. The reason is the LCD displays most of use is too bright from the factory. This means images will look great on the LCD but they will come back too dark. You will need learn to calibrate your monitor, using test prints. The goal is to use the actual prints from the lab as a reference to set brightness and contrast of your monitor. I did a post on that topic earlier, you can see it here.
This post is about the prints I received from WHCC. First, I have to say that WHCC is a “top of the food chain” print lab and I can’t recommend them enough. The people are great and the service is incredible. From test print through the big prints, they really turn out some fantastic work. If you are serious about your photography and need some of the best prints I have ever seen, visit WHCC. White House is a custom lab for professionals, you can sign up and submit your test files to receive your test prints in 2 days. Then, with the test prints in hand, you can determine if your post workflow is good to go. If not, call them and they will give you some tips to get dialed in. If you are printing too dark, I have two words for you brightness & contrast. The controls on the monitor need to be manually adjusted.
Lastly, I want to say that I am not affiliated in any way to WHCC. I heard good things about them from several people so I decided to give them a shot. I am glad I did because they are world class from the phone, to packing, to print. I love WHCC! If you decide to use them, tell them Tom sent ya!

Love the story about how the mustache pic came to be. I was wondering if there was something behind those pics. Great unboxing. Felt like Christmas on Halloween. Hey, someone should do a movie about that…
