Hi.  Welcome to my blog.  Today I offer a mini review of some wonderful little gear bags from my friends at PocketWizard.  The bags have a simple name, they are simply called “G-Wiz”.  They come in three different flavors: “G-Wiz 2X”, “G-Wiz Square”, and “G-Wiz Trunk”.  Each bag is made of Ripstop Nylon and each is designed for a specific PocketWizard transmitter/receiver.

The G-Wiz 2x was designed to hold two of the original PocketWizard triggers; the Plus version.  The Plus’s are the ones I have and they are the same exact size as the Plus II and the Multi-Max (Side Note: The reason I am still using the Plus’s, is because they just won’t die).  All of the originally designed units have the rubber whip antennas and because of this, they are little taller than the newer Plus III units. The G-Wiz 2x bag snugly fits two Plus style units without bending the antennas.  The G-Wiz 2X has two zippered compartments that hold the lanyard’s, but more importantly, the sync cables.  The compartment that holds the sync cables is great because it saves me from losing my sync cables.  God only knows I hate losing sync cables.  If you have ever felt the pain of not being able to do a job because you have everything except a silly little wire (the sync cable), then you know how convenient these little bags really are.  The cost savings of not having to buy a replacement cable is worth more than the cost of the G-wiz bag itself, however, the aggravation savings is a major bonus.  Also, speaking of a bonus, the 2X bag comes with a little carabiner engraved with the PocketWizard logo.  This carabiner is great because you can hang the bag on a light stand or clip it to your camera bag as seen in the picture above.  If the carabiner isn’t your style, the 2x also has belt loops so you can hang it from your person.  The G-Wiz 2X,  is a cool little bag and if you like gear bags as much as I do, you might want to get a few of these.

Next we have the G-Wiz Squared, this bag holds up to four Plus III’s and it has a large zipper compartment for sync cables (same benefits as stated above).  The bag also has movable, padded dividers that allow you customize the layout of the bag. The G-Wiz Squared bag comes in three colors, Black, Orange and Blue, and I really like the Orange one.  The bag has two attachment straps with heavy button snaps that allow you to attach it to your tripod, a camera bag, or your belt. The G-Wiz Squared is a great bag if you own more than two PocketWizards and want to protect them during transport AND in style.

Finally, the G-Wiz Trunk.  This is designed to hold the entire PocketWizard Flex system.  This bag is the largest of the three, it has the same moveable dividers (like the Squared), however, it holds more units.  It can hold 2-MiniTT1′s, 3- FlexTT5′s and an AC3 zone controller or two.  It has a nice handle strap, and a very large zippered mesh-net storage area to hold all of the cabling.  The G-Wiz Trunk is designed to hold all of your PocketWizard Flex gear in a nice padded case that keeps it all together and protects it when you are moving from job to job.

For me the G-Wiz gear bags are a no brainer and I can’t tell you how nice it is to finally have a specific place to put my PocketWizards.  I no longer have them floating around my camera bags, sitting loosely on a table, waiting to be knocked on the floor or having them walk off, never to be found again.  Take some time and watch the video below.  I show you, first hand, why I love these little bags.
