Canon E-6 The Latest Offering in the Full Frame World

Canon 6d

Hi, welcome to my blog. I wanted to share with you the new Full Frame offering from Canon. It is the called the 6D and what a cool camera it is. The price makes it, so most can afford to be in a full frame body now, and that is a good thing. I plan to buy one for a backup body so I am excited to say the least.

The specs are great, it doesn’t have all the features as my 5D MkIII but it is feature packed none the less. It’s 20MP camera with a Digic 5+ processor, does full HD video and has WI-Fi + GPS built in. That is some cool stuff if you ask me. It does 4.5 frames per second and has 11 point AF system. This is the perfect people picture camera in my opinion. The body is only $400 more than I paid for my 7D, that makes the 6D $2,099.00. I bet you will find them on sale for $1700 in just a few months.

I wish my 5D MKIII had the GPS and Wi-Fi built in, I can’t say that I am not a little disappointed, but this is all the more reason for me to get one. I will give a full review as soon as mine gets here. I already put on on the credit card, shhhhh… don’t tell my wife.  I wish I was at Photokina right now to see all the other great stuff, as that is where the 6D made it’s debut.

A side note about the blog, I will be offering a video tutorial tomorrow. I am, 100% up and running with my computer. It was a nightmare to re install all of that software. I am so glad it’s over. Now to profile all the hardware again, everything takes so much time.  Thanks for taking time to visit my blog today.  Tomas Shue

Sorry to hear about your computer problems Tom. Glad you’re back up and running. This camera seems cool, but I don’t think it’s worth trading in the 5D Mk II for. Would you say that would be somewhat of a downgrade for the Mk II? I know it’s MSRP is cheaper, but it’s also newer and similarly priced to the Mk II after the release of the Mk III. I was excited, and then figured as cool as WiFI and GPS is, it’s probably not a big leap above what I’m working with now. Maybe like you say, it’s a cool backup. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts.

  1. If I had a 5d MKII I would not upgrade to a 6D. If I was on a crop, YES makr the move. I plan to use this camera as a back up only. But it is going to be a great camera, it just doesn’t have all of the great bits that live in the 5D Mk III. Before this camera came out, I was going to get the 1Dx and use my MK III as a backup, nit any more, The 6D just saved me somthing like 4 grand!

With all that said, the 6D will most likely have much better noise control over the mkII, the AF has to be much better. You know how the low light AF is with your mkII, it sucks. I have used them and it is terrible in low light. The GPS and Wi-Fi are just extra gadgets that make life more simple. Imagine being able to pass a image from you camera to your cell phone and up to Facebook for instant sharing. Also as a wedding or event shooter, imagine using wi-fi to share your images instantly to everyone’s phone, screens, and to family members that are not able to attend. One catch is you better be a good photog, if your work sucks and you have a low keeper rate you might not want to share them.

Well there you go Mario. are you going to go to my all day workshop?

Lol thanks for your take. I think it’s definitely a contender. And I would love improved AF in low contrast, low lights conditions. Cool that it also saved you $4K. Haha. I might ask you to mess with it for a few minutes when you get yours. Are you still getting an EOS M?

I’m most likely attending. It’s gonna suck having to miss some of it. You gotta let me know when the best time to miss is going to be so I don’t feel like crap going home and taking a sleep break. :P
