Still Loving The Sprint Evo 4G LTE

Art is everywhere at 18b
I love the Sprint Evo 4G lte more and more every day. Today I went scouting for a location to do a shoot. In Las Vegas if you look hard you will find the Art District, it’s called 18b. The reason is, it used to be an 18 square block community of Artists. It’s changed, no longer 18 blocks, and it has moved a little. You’ll find it just off Las Vegas Blvd and Charleston Blvd (downtown). To get close to it, find Charleston Blvd, and 4th st., go to College and start waling around the alleys, you’ll find all sorts of incredible art.
The Art District has changed a little since the old days but that is a good thing. In recent times, the mayor has allowed graffiti to take place in the Art District where it has flourished. So armed only with my EVO 4G lte, I walked all over the Art District and made some scouting photos. I have to say I am still impressed every time I use the camera built into the Evo. Downtown Las Vegas, isn’t really a place you want to be walking around with a bunch of gear. For this reason, I changed my usual routine and decided to use the cell phone.
I love the EVO for doing scouting, I can upload the images to Flickr, Facebook, Dropbox, ect.. as I shoot, thus eliminating the need to process the images, it’s a huge time saver. The images are crisp, color is good, and there are some neat filters like HDR that work pretty good. When I say pretty good, it isn’t a real HDR, but it does help to bring the sky down to a nice blue, even in mid-day direct sun. Most of the time you will blow out the sky when you shoot mid-day sun because of way to much contrast between the high and low values of mid-day sun. All in all I was more than happy, I was able to find several locations for a future shoot and didn’t put myself in an awkward position with a bunch of expensive gear in a bad part of town.
Here are some of art I found while I was out on the scout.
